Wireless Network
Installation
WirelessBuilders can install your wireless network, test it and certify its operation. Upon completion, the wireless installation is documented for future reference.
Using the WiFi site survey report as a guide, WiFi installation involves positioning access points and antennas in the facility. Mounting access points and antennas higher from the ground usually results in better WiFi signal propagation. Installation is the most physically demanding phase of a wireless project because ladders or lifts may be required to gain access to ceiling areas.
The WiFi Installation process
Some of the activities that will take place during wireless network installation include:
- Mounting of access points
- Installation of NEMA enclosures as required
- Mounting of antennas
- Connection of antennas to access points
- Connection of Backbone LAN to access points
- Connection of power to access points
- Installation and connection of remote power system
- Verification of WiFi coverage
- Configuration of access points and hardware to include:
- Proper firmware level
- Radio information (system ID, channel, bit rate)
- IP addresses (provided by customer)
- Verification of backbone connectivity:
- Ping access points
- Ping Hosts
Cabling and power runs should be completed and tested prior to the installation of the access points. After wireless network installation, testing for proper operation and coverage may indicate the need to move access points and possibly use different settings. Finally, documentation on all the system hardware and software will be provided to the IT staff as an aid to be used when supporting the operational system.
